The Hunger Games.

Let me start by saying - I am obsessed!

I came across The Hunger Games last week and have already finished the first book. I am currently reading the second one, but I will share that once I am done with it. Since I loved the book so much, I decided to copy and edit Wikipedia's description of it so that I do not spoil it too much!

" The Hunger Games is a young-adult science fiction novel written by Suzanne Collins. It is the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy. It introduces sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world in the country of Panem where North America once existed. Panem consists of a wealthy Capitol and twelve surrounding, poorer districts. The Capitol holds all the power. In the book, the Hunger Games are an annual televised event where the Capital chooses one boy and one girl from each of 12 districts to fight to the death. The Hunger Games exist as a punishment for a previous rebellion against the Capitol by district 13, which is now destroyed. The participants, or "tributes", must fight in a dangerous, outdoor arena, controlled by the Capitol until only one remains."

Although it sounds violent, mean, out of this world... etc, I loved the intensity of this book. I fell in love with Katniss for her heroic, brave and caring personality, and am already in love with the second book. So i definitely recommend it!

Last week I finally received in the mail a few new polishes. When I first put eyes on the OPI fall 2011 collection, I immediately knew that I had to have "Road house blues" due to my obsession with Navy. So, as soon as I opened the package, I had to try it on and decided to use this new gold I got from Aldo on my accent nails and here is the end result (absolutely LOVE Road house blues!)

We heart it!

My friend Fernanda introduced me to this great website where people add their favorite pictures and you can "heart it" if you like. It is very simple, nothing special, just a bunch of pictures... but nonetheless, awesome pictures of fashion, quotes, love, items and etc. Here are some of my favorite pictures so far and to visit the website click here.

I believe.

I came across this video a few days ago while watching (for the first time!) America's Got Talent. Silhouettes is a beautiful group of dancers from little children to adults, who use lighting effects to create shadows for their performance. I was amazed when I saw them dance and even got a little emotional. I had to share this with you all and I truly hope you enjoy it!

One Day.

For those who know me well, I do not usually like to read romantic novels. When I chose to purchase "One Day" I was a little hesitant and upon the start of the book I found myself a little bored. However, after a few pages, I dove into this book head first and completely loved it. This has definitely become one of my favorite books and eventually I hope to see the movie. This novel tells the story of a couple on July 15th for 20 years. I found this way of telling a story very creative and not too slow. Because we only get to know what happens that specific day, the story is not too long and it keeps you wondering what is going to happen next. If you like romantic stories I recommend this novel. If you don't, then I still recommend it because you might enjoy it as much as i did!

Shimmery pink.

Yesterday we lost power and I was not able to use the computer for the entire morning and some of the afternoon, so I ended up not posting. Anyway, I took advantage of my free time to get my nails done and tried out a new version of the water marble nails. This time I dipped multiple nails in the water at once so that it saved more polish and time. Also, I used a shimmery gold glitter amongst some muted pinks. For the base coat, I used Essie "Innocent" and for the water mixture I used a gold from Forever 21, Essie "Innocent, Essie "Topless and Barefoot" and Essie "Neo Whimsical". Here is the result:

Left hand.

Right hand.
The left hand came out better than the right hand but everything looked nice in the end and subtle which was my main goal upon starting this little project.

This month's Vogue had an article about lace clothing breaking out of the black and white theme and going for a more colorful look in the fashion world. As soon as I read it, I obsessed about it because I love lace!  Here is the actual article from the magazine:

Skinny Bitch.

A few days ago I decided I needed to be a little healthier with my eating habits. Although I try to eat healthy, at my age and with the busy schedule I have it becomes very hard (excuses, excuses...). So I purchased this book called "Skinny Bitch" because I had heard that it was straight to the point and very tough on emotional readers. In the end it was a short read about things I mostly already knew but I found myself more dedicated after this read and it turned out to be the push I needed to get myself back to the gym. I truly enjoyed "Skinny Bitch" because it was graphic about animal abuse when it comes to meat production and I had never read in dept about that stuff. Also, it gives a lot of tips on what to eat, including websites and stores with various brands and great items to substitute the more unhealthy things in your diet with. I would recommend this book to mostly anyone, girl or boy. Even if you are a "skinny bitch" already, it is good to know what is healthy and what you should not do to your body. Unfortunately, I do not feel that it is to my best interest to follow all the guidelines this book proposes, but think that whoever wants to is making a great decision and good luck to anyone who wants to be healthier!!

Romantic and sweet.

What girl does not love bows? You might have phases of your life where you do not want to wear them because you do not want to look like a little girl but no one can deny that they are cute and sweet adding charm to any outfit. I personally really love them and have been looking for a perfect leather bow bracelet to add to my jewelry collection but just do not seem to find one. Here are a few pieces of jewelry that I found to be cute and you might too.

Enjoy your long weekend everyone :)
